EventNest — run an event rental business without overbooking your own chairs

A folding chair earns nothing sitting in a garage. A hundred of them, priced right and tracked properly, is the start of a business — right up until you book the same fifty chairs for two Saturdays in a row. EventNest is the kit for the stage in between: the app that tracks what you own and what is out, and the plan that explains pricing, insurance and inflatable compliance.

Two things, one price

The app

One HTML file · works offline

EventNest — nine sections covering booking to breakdown: inventory tracked by quantity (not one row per chair), a bundle builder for packages, availability-aware bookings with a cleaning gap, a requests log that tells you what to buy next, money (payments, expenses, deposits, damage), insights, and five printable documents.

The business plan

PDF · 42 pages

Seven parts, twenty-five chapters, five appendices. What to buy first, how to price by the day and the week, ASTM-compliant inflatable operations, insurance categories, damage and disputes, and a 90-day checklist to get your first ten bookings.

What everyone else charges

Event rental software exists, and some of it is genuinely good — but it is built for companies that already have a warehouse and a driver, and it is billed monthly, forever. If you are renting out a tent and a hundred chairs out of a garage, the arithmetic does not work yet.

ToolPriceWhat that meansFirst year
Booqable$29 – $149 per monthWebsite builder and mobile POS billed separately$348+
EZRentOut$59 – $499 per monthOnline payments and web store need the $399+ tier$708+
Goodshuffle Pro$139 per monthBuilt for established rental companies, priced like one$1,668
EventNest$19.99 onceNo subscription, no transaction fees, no account — plus the 42-page business plan$19.99

Prices as published by each vendor at the time of writing and quoted in USD; check their own pages for current figures. Their products do things EventNest does not — online customer booking pages, payment processing, delivery routing, multi-warehouse inventory. If you need those, buy one of theirs. EventNest is for the stage before that, which is where most people starting an event rental side business will stay for a while.

What is in the app

Inventory by quantity, not by row

Own 100 folding chairs? That is one item with a quantity of 100, not a hundred rows. Every booking subtracts from the pool and shows what is free today.

A cleaning gap that actually blocks bookings

Set a 0–7 day turnaround per booking. Back-to-back Saturdays for the same tent are caught before you confirm, not after a customer shows up to dirty linens.

Basic and Advanced modes

Off by default. Turn Advanced on and inflatable items gain an ASTM F2374-22 compliance date field, a required per-use inspection, and a wind/anchoring/electrical check that auto-holds a unit at 15+ mph sustained wind.

Bundles for packages

Group a tent, tables and chairs into one line with its own price — for the customers who just want "the wedding package," not a line-item quote.

A shopping list your customers write

Every unfilled request is logged. Ask for the same missing item three times and it is flagged "Buy it" — two, "Watch" — one, "Noted." No guessing what to add to inventory next.

Five documents, generated from the booking

Rental Agreement, Damage & Condition Report, Delivery/Pickup Confirmation, Pull Sheet, and a Pre-Use Inspection Log for Advanced mode — each one printable, downloadable as a standalone HTML file, or copyable as plain text.

Money kept honest

Payments, expenses and deposits held versus refunded, with damage kept separate from ordinary wear — so a scuffed table leg does not get billed the same as a torn tent.

Earnings by item, not just by booking

Revenue is split across every line in a booking by its share of the value, so you see which items actually earn — a $960 wedding booking does not just show as one lump sum.

A dashboard that surfaces problems on its own

Next 30 days, income last 30 days, and a "worth knowing" panel that flags low stock, unfilled requests and inflatables missing their ASTM date — before they become a Saturday-morning problem.

Delete protection with two real gates

Deleting one record gives you a 6-second undo. Wiping everything requires typing DELETE, checking a box, and even then a restorable snapshot is kept — so a misclick cannot erase a season of bookings.

Nothing leaves your device

One HTML file, saved to your own browser via localStorage. No account, no server, no monthly fee, nobody but you sees your prices or your customers.

Who this is for

A good fit if

  • You are starting or running a small tables-chairs-tents-and-linens rental business
  • You occasionally rent bounce houses or other inflatables and need to track compliance
  • You want to know what is free today without a spreadsheet you have to remember to update
  • You would rather not pay a monthly fee to track a hundred chairs
  • You care that your customer list and prices stay on your own machine

Not a good fit if

  • You need customers to book and pay online themselves
  • You run delivery routes across multiple trucks and need routing software
  • You operate several warehouses with staff who need simultaneous live access
  • You want an app that syncs between your phone and laptop automatically
  • You are looking for a replacement for professional safety inspection — Advanced mode logs your checks, it does not perform them

How it works

  1. Buy and download instantly — no account needed.
  2. Open the HTML file in any browser. Nothing to install, nothing to configure on a server.
  3. Load the sample data to look around, then clear it and add your own inventory.
  4. Turn on Advanced mode only if you rent inflatables, set your cleaning gap, and book your first event.

Questions

Is this a subscription?

No. One payment, yours to keep, including future updates. There is nothing to cancel because there is nothing recurring.

Do I need to be online?

No. The app is a single HTML file that runs in your browser with no internet connection. There is no server and no account.

Where is my data stored?

In your own browser, on your own device. Nothing is uploaded. Export a backup regularly — the app supports it, and it is the only copy that exists outside your browser.

Do I need Advanced mode?

Only if you rent inflatables or other high-risk items. It is off by default. Turning it on adds the ASTM compliance field and the per-use inspection log; turning it off hides both.

Will this work outside the US?

The app works anywhere and lets you set your own currency and categories. The business plan's general pricing, insurance and operations chapters apply broadly, but the inflatable compliance standard it cites, ASTM F2374-22, is a US standard — check your own country's equipment and safety requirements if you operate elsewhere.

Is the rental agreement legally binding?

It is a plain-language starting template, not legal advice. Contract and consumer law vary by country and region. Have it reviewed by someone qualified before relying on it for anything high-value.
