How does this work?
We divide the book's page count by your daily reading pace to find out how many days you actually need, then compare that to your loan period plus any renewals (each renewal typically adds another full loan period). If your needed days exceed what's available, we calculate the pace you'd need to hit instead — useful for deciding whether to speed up, renew, or just accept a small library fine.
Renewal policies vary by library and often depend on whether someone else has placed a hold on the same book — check your library's app or website for your specific renewal eligibility before counting on extra time.
How do I know if I'll finish a library book in time?
Divide the book's page count by how many pages you read per day to get the days needed, then compare that to your loan period plus any renewals. If the days needed is less than or equal to your total available days, you're on track.
What's a typical library loan period?
Most public libraries lend print books for 14, 21, or 28 days, often with one or two renewals allowed if no one else has the book on hold.
