Random Next Task Picker

Paste your task list below, one task per line — we'll randomly pick one to help you get started when everything feels equally overwhelming (or equally boring).

How does this work?

We split your pasted list by line, ignore anything blank, and pick one entry at random. There's no algorithm trying to guess priority or urgency — the randomness is the whole point, since it takes the decision out of your hands when decision-making itself is the obstacle.

If the pick genuinely doesn't fit right now (say, it needs a tool you don't have handy), just pick again. And if you finish the task, click "mark done and remove" to take it off the list and pick your next one from what's left.

Frequently asked questions

Why does picking a random task help with task paralysis?

When every task feels equally urgent or overwhelming, deciding which to do first can itself become a barrier. Removing that decision by picking randomly can lower the activation energy needed to simply start.

What if the random task isn't the right one to do right now?

That's completely fine — treat the pick as a suggestion, not an order. You can always pick again, or use it as a starting point to notice what you'd rather do instead.
