Trailer Roadworthiness & Maintenance Log

Boat, horse, utility or camper trailer: the failure points are predictable, but the maintenance record is rarely in one place. Run a pre-trip inspection, flag critical failures, track service by date and mileage, and print a clean record for your own safety or resale.

One record for the trailer you actually tow.

Critical items carry more weight. A critical FAIL overrides the score.

Why trailer maintenance deserves its own record

The tow vehicle has warning lights, service reminders and a dashboard. The trailer usually has none. Tire age, bearing condition, brake adjustment, wiring corrosion and a worn coupler can progress quietly until the day the trailer is loaded and moving at highway speed.

A short inspection before a trip catches obvious failures. A service timeline catches the slower ones: the bearing job you think was two seasons ago, the tire that looks fine but is aging out, or the breakaway battery that has never been tested.

Use the score to organize work, not to certify safety

This tool is not a statutory inspection and cannot see what a mechanic can. A critical FAIL deliberately overrides the percentage because a good light circuit does not compensate for a damaged tire, loose wheel, failed coupler or brake problem.
